So I took my first day away from my son since he moved up here to watch 2 movies I've been meaning to watch; Man of Steel and The Hangover Part 3. Here are my thoughts on both films.
THE HANGOVER PART III
So, I've seen the first two, and after the second one disappointed the hell out of me, I wasn't expecting much from this film. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did they scrap the formula from the previous films, but they delivered on the laughs and some action you wouldn't see coming from a Hangover film.
When one of their own is kidnapped by an angry gangster, the Wolf Pack must track down Mr. Chow, who has escaped from prison and is on the lam.
The film revolves around Chow and Allan. We learn how crazy Chow actually is, all the while, Alan is undergoing a life altering metamorphasis into a responsible adult. All in all, I enjoyed the film. I went in with low expectations and came out with a good opinion of the film. The humor is crude, some things are just weird, but that's to be expected from these films.
I had a surprisingly great time with this movie and would recommend seeing it for yourself whenever you have the spare time. I'll give this film a 3.5 out of 5.
MAN OF STEEL
The Zack Snyder/Christopher Nolan re-imagining of Superman's origin story.
A young Clark Kent is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by General Dru-Zod and his forces.
Ho. Ly. Shit. This movie was absolutely amazing. At 2 hours and 23min, I was hooked the whole time. From seeing Kal El's birth at the beginning of the film to seeing Martha and Johnathan Kent raise him (which is seen in flashbacks), to seeing him fight off Zod's army and begin his new life as Clark Kent; Reporter at the end of the film. I. Was. Hooked.
Sure, there are a few "meh" moments in the film, but the rest of it was amazing. I don't want to be here ranting all day, but the visuals were amazing, the score was amazing, the acting is great, and the action was superb.
Definately go out and see this movie when you have the money. I give it a 5/5.
What are your thoughts on the films?
